Done...

with the gardening that is.

An armchair caddy from the pattern by Hugs 'n Kisses free tutorial available on the blog.

If I was making it for me I think it would need to be longer as the arms on the couch are very fat!

Here it is with some supplies. I love the way the pincushions sits up in the middle and the pockets hold threads and scissors.

A collection of pretty purple items for the New Beginnings project being co-ordinated by Jenny.
In the post to Queensland to brighten a sewing space after the devastation the flooding caused in that state earlier this month.
Oh, and January is done too - how did that happen??
Now to tackle a few of those UFO's maybe that will be my February goal? Best I decide quickly. Yesterday I worked on one of the scrappy quilt tops that I started last year.

Really Late!

This is my new table centre piece which Jindi's mum made me for Christmas. I have had it for over a month, but as me and housework don't get along that well I have just put the Christmas things away and now I have my new centre piece adorning my table - Perfect.

Here is some detail and the best colour I could get. It is mostly blues and yellows with a little green and red.

I finished something earlier - Yippee!
I'll be back with some pics tomorrow.
Wishing you a wonderful week with some creative spaces.

Introducing Harriette

I thought I'd play along with Melody's Teddy bears picnic and show you some of the bears that I have in my collection, most of which are made by me.

It is fitting to start with Harriette as she is the first mohair bear that I made.

Completed in a class in 2001 and I even kept up with all the homework so she was finished by the end of the last class and like all good crafty types I picked up supplies on the last day and began an obsession with making bears.

As I handsewed all the body parts the bears became my train project and were completed quickly and very unlike me I worked on one at a time, which is why I only have one bear UFO.

I have plenty of supplies for making more furry friends.

Here is a close up of her pretty face and gorgeous beads.
The design is Hattie by Gerry Warlow.

Friday night progress

Finished the hand stitching on Ms Bear and then it was off to play with Nomee.

Finished drawstring bag design from Li'l Blokes, perfect for storing small projects on the go.

Finished Springberries Needlecase designed by Cinderberry stitches, with some modifications of course. - Inside love the pocket for keeping essentials handy,

and Out.

The back has strips, perfect for using up little pieces of fabric.

Hanging out together.

Ooh, that means I have completed a UFO already and it is still January - Yippee.

Thanks to Heidi and Bobbi for hosting Friday Night sew in, it sure is fun imagining sewing with a lot of other creative types while working in my lounge room.

Have a wonderful weekend wherever you are.

Happy!

I remembered that today is January's Friday night sew in hosted by Heidi and Bobbi.
The best bit, I only had to work in the middle of the day so I am all set for a productive evening and to make sure the new iron does it's job.
I am going to make something with this,
Do some work on this,
And maybe even baste this, as I have already made the backing.
May your weekend be full of crafty goodness.

Amazing and an Emergency!

Can you believe how generous the people of blogland are?

I spent a lovely afternoon with Marina over at Maisie and the Boys.

What can I say - she fed me afternoon tea, we talked and I got to see some of her gorgeous projects in real life - amazing!

Thanks Marina, I really did enjoy the afternoon.

There was some sewing action here this week -

a small contribution to the Quilt Drive being held over at The Quilter's Angel.

Hope it brightens someones recovery from the Queensland flood disaster.

All the talk of UFO's in blogland had me unearth a few forgotten favourites.

This young lady is a design from Lynn Hyland of Li'l Bloke's started?? found in the bottom of a tub all stuck down and not sewn up - now that is under control, she will going off to brighten a refurbished sewing space soon.

Then there was a disaster in the sewing room - that is the only time you 'need' an iron -right?

Well my 10 year old iron just gave up the ghost completely today and that is my excuse for not having more finished items - I had to run out to the shop before it closed tonight to pick up a new one - I may want to sew before work tomorrow.

Hope she lasts as long as the last one!

So I hope you are all having a fun week and staying dry in your part of the world.

The letter S

Sewing with Sue,

A fine light pink border and a pin wheel border, then a wide light pink border.
Ready to be quilted.

Shopping - I only took a little detour on my may to the job on Saturday.
Look what I found at GJ's in the bargain bucket, the ones on either end are from the remnant basket - perfect for the stash.
Five of the six fat quarters have been cut and are ready to be sewn.

Stitching up a little design from Cinderberry Stitches, verigated purple thread - perfect for berries.

Hope you had a fun weekend without rain!

Happy Creating.

Look...

Whilst I spent most of my break with my feet up while sitting on the lounge and eating too much chocolate I did manage to do something with these fabrics The Mother gave me when I visited at Christmas.
Oh, the little Sunbonnet Sue girl was a bonus she was folded with one of the fabrics which all came from the op shop.
I can't show you where I am up to as the camera battery has decided to go flat now, could have something to do with all the photo's I took when The Mother and I went to the zoo last weekend.
Anyway back to work for me today - so guess I best get sorted and hit the road as it could be a long drive in the rain which has decided it should visit with us today.
Have a lovely Thursday and stay dry if you can!

Slow start

I have been reading around the blogosphere that how you start the year is pretty much how it will continue.
I have had some very slow, lazy days so far. Watched some DVD's and accomplished just a little stitching. I can only hope things stay as slow throughout the year but I'm guessing once the holidays are over there may be a dramatic increase in the speed of all activity.
Purple bunny is from Melly's Sew Little range and is so cute.
Hope your week has been relaxing so far.
